Who it suits

  • Holders wanting to delegate assets to validators
  • Developers wanting to build applications on the same chain

Who should look elsewhere

  • Savers seeking deposit accounts or insured balances
  • Beginners wanting intermediated brokerage support

How your money is protected

Protection on Hyperliquid comes from its consensus design and non custodial structure rather than from custody by the exchange. A delegated proof of stake system lets HYPE holders delegate to validators, with 27 selected by stake and a large supermajority required to commit blocks. A seven day unstaking queue discourages large attacks on consensus. All trading actions remain visible onchain and the network never takes control of user funds.

A single network for many markets

Hyperliquid pictures a future where much of financial activity runs on one open, transparent and neutral network instead of through intermediaries that hold custody and control access. The thinking draws a parallel with how electronic trading reshaped markets in earlier decades, with the aim of giving users more direct control over their own assets and trades. Builders can also rely on shared liquidity and execution, so they can focus on their own users and products rather than building the underlying trading machinery themselves.

Self funded development

Hyperliquid Labs leads core development of the blockchain and is entirely self funded, with no outside capital taken in. The founding team set out to build the network without private investors, paid market makers or insiders, and says its core parts are built by teams that earned their place through open competition. A grassroots community organises meetups, conferences and developer gatherings in many countries around the world, which keeps the wider ecosystem active.

Policy work in the United States

The Hyperliquid Policy Center argues for a clear legal route that lets Americans reach decentralised markets, and it wants the entrepreneurs building those markets to operate inside the United States. Its work centres on regulation rather than on trading features. Many of the core financial applications on the network are built by independent teams, and community members have also contributed publicly shared tools, method notes and software kits for developers.

How Hyperliquid compares

Frequently asked questions

What can be traded on Hyperliquid?+

Hyperliquid covers perpetual futures and spot trading across crypto, equities, commodities, foreign exchange and real world assets. Different asset types sit together so activity stays within one account without intermediaries.

What is Hyperliquid used for?+

Hyperliquid combines a layer one blockchain with a flagship decentralised exchange for perpetual futures and spot trading. The same network supports borrowing, lending, issuing and sending assets alongside smart contract applications.

How does trading and consensus work?+

Every order, cancellation, trade and liquidation is recorded onchain with one block finality. Holders delegate HYPE to validators and a stake selected set confirms each block when more than two thirds agree.

Who owns and supports the network?+

The network was launched without private investors, paid market makers or insiders. Teams reach core roles through fair competition and protocol revenue returns to the network through the Assistance Fund.

Who builds the applications on the network?+

Many of the most important financial tools on the network are created by independent teams rather than by the core developers alone. Developers can also draw on publicly shared software and development kits shared by the wider community. This mix means the network grows through outside creativity as well as internal work. Outside builders therefore shape much of what users see.

Does one company run the network?+

Several groups share the work. Hyperliquid Labs leads core development, a separate foundation backs long term growth and network security, and independent teams build much of the wider activity. Each group has its own role, which keeps responsibilities easy to follow. Community contributions add further layers to the project.
