What is Investor protection?
In short
The scheme that steps in if a firm fails, and how much of your money it covers.
Investor protection is a safety net for your money. If a firm goes out of business or cannot return funds, a compensation scheme covers losses up to a set limit, and any amount above that limit is at risk.
The scheme depends on where the brand is based. In Germany, 1822direkt and Abf Trade Eu sit under EU ICS up to EUR 20,000 and EU ICS up to EUR 20,000. Acorns Checking is covered by SIPC up to USD 500,000. Admirals and AJ Bell both come under FSCS up to GBP 85,000 and FSCS up to GBP 85,000. The limits differ, so check the figure for your own brand before you add to a position.
