What is Credit check?

In short

A credit check is the look a lender gives your record before saying yes to a loan.

Before a lender agrees to lend you money, it checks how you have handled other credit. That review is the credit check. A hard check leaves a mark that other lenders can see, and a softer check does not. Approval rests on the result, so a thin credit file can mean a refusal or a smaller loan.

The examples here all run hard checks. 1822direkt, ABA Bank, ABB Bank and Abhi each take a hard look at your credit file before a loan is arranged. The word hard describes the depth of the search, not a judgement that you are a risky borrower. If you already hold cards or a loan, those records form part of what the lender sees.
